About the DP Level Transmitter Calibration Report

DP level transmitters often have elevated or suppressed zero ranges because of wet legs, seals and mounting height. Testing in DP while showing the equivalent level makes the calibration easier to check against the real tank.

How to fill in this template

  1. Enter LRV and URV in mbar as calculated for the tank, including wet leg or seal head.
  2. Enter process SG to see the equivalent level for each test point.
  3. Apply DP at the HP side (or apply vacuum to the LP side for negative values) and record outputs upscale and downscale.
  4. Adjust if needed and record as left readings.
  5. Restore wet legs and seals before returning to service.

What the formulas do

  • Applied DP = LRV + span × test point %.
  • Equivalent level (m) = (applied DP − LRV) × 100 ÷ (SG × 9806.65).
  • Error (% span) = (measured − expected mA) ÷ 16 × 100.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my LRV negative?

A wet leg or seal capillary on the LP side adds head, so an empty tank gives negative DP.

Can I calibrate a level transmitter by filling the tank?

A wet calibration is possible but slow; bench or in situ DP calibration is normal, followed by a level check.

What is 1 m of water in mbar?

About 98.07 mbar.
