About the Solenoid Valve Data Sheet

Solenoid valves are small but often decide whether a shutdown valve closes in time. The data sheet ties their flow capacity, coil and certification to the actuator and safety function.

How to fill in this template

  1. Define function and normal state.
  2. Give supply pressure range and medium.
  3. Choose valve type and size so the actuator vents within the required time.
  4. Specify coil voltage, power and Ex marking.
  5. Add SIL and manual override needs.

What the formulas do

  • No formulas: specification document laid out in sections like an ISA 20 style data sheet.

Frequently Asked Questions

3/2 or 5/2?

3/2 for single acting spring return actuators; 5/2 for double acting actuators.

Why de energise to trip?

Loss of power or wiring failure then takes the valve to the safe state.

Does solenoid Cv matter?

Yes, too small a Cv slows venting and stroke time.
