Flameproof Enclosure Explained
Ex d enclosures are strong and have precisely machined joints. Cable entries must use certified Ex d glands or conduit seals.
Damaged flame paths, missing bolts or wrong glands destroy the protection, so inspection to IEC 60079-17 is essential.
Flameproof Enclosure: Typical Values
| Ex db | EPL Gb, Zone 1 and 2 |
| Ex e (increased safety) | prevents sparks and hot surfaces, often for terminal boxes |
