How to Convert Radioactivity Units
Radioactivity is the rate at which unstable nuclei decay. The SI unit is the becquerel (Bq = 1 decay per second); the curie (3.7 × 10¹⁰ Bq) is still used for nuclear level and density gauge sources.
Every unit on this page is stored as a fixed factor relative to one reference unit, the becquerel (Bq). Converting is a two step multiply and divide:
- Multiply your value by the factor of the source unit to get the value in Bq.
- Divide that result by the factor of the target unit.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the SI unit of radioactivity?
The SI unit of radioactivity is the becquerel (Bq). Radioactivity is the rate at which unstable nuclei decay.
How do I convert Ci to GBq?
To convert curie (Ci) to gigabecquerel (GBq), multiply the value in Ci by 37. For example, 1 Ci = 37 GBq.
How do I convert mCi to MBq?
To convert millicurie (mCi) to megabecquerel (MBq), multiply the value in mCi by 37. For example, 1 mCi = 37 MBq.
How do I convert GBq to mCi?
To convert gigabecquerel (GBq) to millicurie (mCi), multiply the value in GBq by 27.027. For example, 1 GBq = 27.027 mCi.
Can I see a value in every radioactivity unit at once?
