What is Static Pressure Effect?
Static pressure effect is the change in a DP transmitter reading caused by line pressure acting on both sides.
Static Pressure Effect Explained
Even with zero DP, high line pressure slightly deforms the sensor body and shifts the zero and span. Makers state it as a % of URL or span per unit of static pressure.
The zero part can be removed by zeroing the transmitter at line pressure with the equalising valve open. The span part remains and is included in the error budget.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Static Pressure Effect?
Static pressure effect is the change in a DP transmitter reading caused by line pressure acting on both sides.
How do I zero at line pressure?
Close the HP and LP valves, open the equalising valve so both sides see line pressure, trim the zero, then return the manifold to service.
When does this matter most?
With low DP ranges at high static pressure, such as gas flow measurement at pipeline pressure.
