About this Table

BSP thread chart for parallel (G, BSPP) and taper (R, Rc, BSPT) British Standard Pipe threads.

Basis: ISO 228 1 (parallel, G) and ISO 7 1 (taper, R and Rc). Whitworth 55° form: thread depth h = 0.640327 × pitch. Taper threads share the gauge plane diameters.

How to use

  1. Measure the male thread outside diameter and count threads per inch.
  2. G means parallel, R taper male, Rc taper female.
  3. G 1/2 is the usual European gauge and transmitter connection.

Notes

  • BSPP seals with a bonded washer or O ring, not on the thread.
  • Diameters for taper threads apply at the gauge plane.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the OD of G 1/2?

20.955 mm with 14 threads per inch.

What is the difference between BSPP and BSPT?

BSPP is parallel and seals on a washer; BSPT is tapered and seals on the thread.

Is G 1/4 the same as 1/4 NPT?

No. G 1/4 is 19 TPI and 13.16 mm; 1/4 NPT is 18 TPI and 13.72 mm.
