About this Table
RTD tolerance table for platinum resistance thermometers, with the limit for each IEC 60751 class at common temperatures in °C and in ohms for a Pt100.
Basis: IEC 60751:2008 wire wound element tolerance classes: AA ± (0.1 + 0.0017 |t|), A ± (0.15 + 0.002 |t|), B ± (0.3 + 0.005 |t|), C ± (0.6 + 0.01 |t|) °C, each valid over its stated range.
How to use
- Find the sensor class on its datasheet or tag (A and B are the most common).
- Read the ± °C limit at your temperature, or use the formula for other temperatures.
- For a Pt1000 multiply the Ω values by 10.
Notes
- Values outside a class range are left blank: the class is not defined there.
- Limits shown are for wire wound elements; film elements have narrower ranges (see the first table).

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the tolerance of a class A Pt100 at 100 °C?
± 0.35 °C, which is about ± 0.13 Ω.
What does 1/3 DIN mean?
It is a common trade name for class AA, one third of the class B tolerance at 0 °C.
Are film sensors different?
Yes, film elements have narrower valid ranges for each class.
