About this Table

Metric thread pitch chart for ISO metric screw threads, with coarse and fine pitches and the usual tap drill for coarse threads.

Basis: ISO 261 general plan and ISO 724 basic dimensions (60° thread). Tap drill = D − P; external minor diameter = D − 1.226869 P; pitch diameter = D − 0.649519 P.

How to use

  1. Measure the bolt diameter and pitch with a thread gauge.
  2. Coarse pitch is assumed when only Mxx is written.
  3. M20 × 1.5 is the standard metric cable gland and many instrument threads.

Notes

  • Tap drill for fine pitch = D − fine pitch.
  • Minor diameter shown is the basic external value; internal threads differ slightly.
