About the Calibration Certificate
A calibration certificate is the formal document that links a measuring instrument to national standards through an unbroken chain of comparisons. ISO/IEC 17025 lists what a certificate must show: unique identification, the item calibrated, method, date, results with uncertainty, the standards used and their traceability, and the authorised signatory. This format covers all of those items.
How to fill in this template
- Fill in the certificate number and customer, then the full identification of the instrument (serial number is essential).
- Enter the calibration date and interval; the next due date is calculated.
- List every reference standard used with its certificate number, validity and traceability.
- Record the results at each point including the expanded uncertainty of your measurement.
- Review the conformity statement, sign and issue the certificate as PDF.
What the formulas do
- Next due date = calibration date + interval in months (EDATE).
- Error = instrument reading − standard reading.
- Result is PASS when |error| ≤ tolerance. Consider the uncertainty when results are close to the limit.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should a calibration certificate contain?
Certificate number, customer, instrument identification, calibration date and method, results with measurement uncertainty, the standards used with their traceability, environmental conditions and an authorised signature.
Should a calibration certificate show a due date?
ISO/IEC 17025 does not require one, but most customers ask for it. This template calculates it from the interval you enter.
What does k = 2 mean on a certificate?
The expanded uncertainty is twice the standard uncertainty, giving about 95 % confidence that the true error lies within the stated range.
