About the Weighing System Calibration Record
Tank and hopper weighing systems are affected by pipework, wind and temperature as much as by the load cells. A stepped up and down test with known loads reveals both span errors and mechanical friction (hysteresis).
How to fill in this template
- Check the mechanical installation and zero the empty system.
- Apply test loads in steps up to near capacity, recording the indication.
- Remove loads in the same steps and record the unloading readings.
- Adjust span if needed and repeat.
- Record the method used, such as test weights or build up with substitution.
What the formulas do
- Error (% of capacity) = (indicated − applied) ÷ capacity × 100.
- Hysteresis = |loading − unloading| ÷ capacity × 100.

Frequently Asked Questions
What if I cannot lift enough test weights?
Use build up with substitution: apply weights, record, replace them with water or product, and add weights again.
Why does unloading read higher?
Friction or binding pipework holds part of the load; check connections.
How often to calibrate?
Often yearly, more often for custody or critical batching.
