About the Differential Pressure Transmitter Data Sheet
DP transmitters are the workhorse of flow and level measurement. Most problems come from the wrong static pressure rating, the wrong output function or missing seal and manifold details. A full data sheet removes those ambiguities before purchase.
How to fill in this template
- Enter the service and process conditions, including static pressure, which sets the transmitter body rating.
- Give the calibrated DP range from the flow element or level calculation, and the output function.
- Specify seals and capillaries for hot, viscous or corrosive service, and the manifold type.
- Choose the burnout direction so a failure drives the loop to the safe side.
- Issue with the requisition for vendor completion.
What the formulas do
- No formulas: specification document laid out in sections like an ISA 20 style data sheet.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between URL and calibrated range?
URL is the maximum DP the sensor can measure; the calibrated range is the part of it set to 4 to 20 mA for this service.
Square root in the transmitter or the DCS?
Either, but only in one place. State the choice on the data sheet and in the loop documents.
When are remote seals needed?
For hot, viscous, crystallising or corrosive fluids, or when the transmitter must be kept away from the process.
