Pressure Switch Calibration Report Template
Record the trip and reset pressure of a switch over three trials. The sheet calculates the deadband, the deviation from set point and the repeatability, and marks the switch pass or fail.

About the Pressure Switch Calibration Report
Pressure switches protect equipment and people, so their trip point must be proven regularly. Unlike a transmitter, a switch has a trip value and a reset value, and the difference (deadband) matters as much as the set point. Three trials reveal poor repeatability caused by worn diaphragms or sticky mechanisms.
How to fill in this template
- Enter the set point, trip direction and allowed tolerance from the instrument data sheet or alarm and trip list.
- Connect a continuity tester or multimeter across the contact used in the circuit.
- Raise the pressure slowly near the set point and record the trip value; lower it until the contact resets and record the reset value. Repeat three times.
- If the trip is out of tolerance, adjust the range screw and record three as left trials.
- Check repeatability and deadband, then sign the report.
What the formulas do
- Deadband = |trip − reset|.
- Deviation = trip − set point.
- Result uses as left values when present, otherwise as found; PASS when |deviation| ≤ tolerance.
- Repeatability = highest trip − lowest trip over the trials.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is deadband in a pressure switch?
The difference between the trip and reset pressures. Too small causes chattering; too large delays the reset.
Why test three trials?
To check repeatability. A switch that trips at a different value each time cannot be trusted for protection.
How slowly should pressure be applied?
Slowly enough that the reading on the standard is stable at the moment the contact changes, typically a few % of span per minute near the set point.
