About the Commissioning Punch List

A punch list collects every incomplete or defective item found during construction, inspection and testing. Clear categories decide what blocks start up, and a single owner per item keeps the list moving. It is one of the most used documents in the final weeks of any project.

How to fill in this template

  1. Give every defect a unique punch number and a clear description that anyone can act on.
  2. Set the category: A must be closed before start up, B before handover, C may stay open after handover.
  3. Assign one responsible party and a target date.
  4. When an item is fixed and verified, set Status to Closed and enter the closed date.
  5. Review the open counts at every commissioning meeting.

What the formulas do

  • Days open = (closed date or today) − raised date.
  • Open item counts by category use COUNTIFS on Category and Status.
