About the pH Analyser Calibration Record
pH electrodes age and coat, which reduces their slope and shifts their offset. Recording both at every calibration shows electrode health over time and when to replace it.
How to fill in this template
- Clean and rinse the electrode.
- Place it in buffer 1 (pH 7), wait for stability and record mV; repeat with buffer 2.
- The sheet calculates slope %, offset and electrode condition.
- Calibrate the analyser, then verify in buffers and record readings.
- Replace the electrode if slope or offset is outside limits after cleaning.
What the formulas do
- Slope = (mV₂ − mV₁) ÷ (pH₁ − pH₂).
- Theoretical slope = 0.198416 × (T + 273.15) mV/pH.
- Offset at pH 7 = mV₁ + (pH₁ − 7) × slope.

Frequently Asked Questions
What slope is acceptable?
Many sites accept about 90 to 105 % of theoretical; follow your procedure and the maker advice.
Why is the slope negative in mV?
Electrode voltage falls as pH rises; this sheet reports it as a positive slope.
How often should pH be calibrated?
From daily to monthly depending on the process; trend slope and offset to set the interval.
