About the Earthing Resistance Test Record
Good earthing protects people, equipment and signals, and is essential for zener barrier intrinsic safety. Periodic records show deterioration of earth pits and bonds.
How to fill in this template
- Enter the tester and interval.

- Test with the stated method and record the reading.
- Failed points need maintenance and retest.

What the formulas do
- Result = PASS if measured ≤ limit.
- Next due = test date + interval.

What is the fall of potential method?
A three electrode test that measures the resistance of an earth electrode to remote earth.
What limit applies to IS earth?
IEC 60079-14 requires a low resistance connection, commonly less than 1 Ω, for zener barrier earths.
Why test in dry season?
Soil resistance is highest then, giving the worst case.
